The following guide shows you how to complete a Blighted map encounter. In blighted maps, players have 5 minutes to kill multiple waves of monsters that spawn from fixed portals. These portals appear over the course of time and players are granted power to build towers. Each construction or upgrade of a tower costs a certain amount of power. As you kill enemies, you will earn more power. Strategy
This guide uses the Scout Tower strategy, which is to place down towers that summon powerful flying minions to attack monsters, greatly reducing the amount of damage the player must do. See Blight strategies for advanced methods. This guide is meant for beginners to get started with Blighted maps.
In this strategy, you will be running around and placing Scout Towers at strategic locations and then staying in the center to kill the mini bosses that the towers cannot finish off.
You will need a high level character capable of significant damage output in order to successfully complete this type of map. After mastering the content it is possible to complete blighted maps without attacking yourself, relying only on good tower placement.

First anoint your rings to grant Scout Tower minions more damage.
To do this, take your ring to Sister Cassia at your hideout, and within the Anoint Items interface, place your ring along with 2 Amber OilAmber OilStack Size: 10 Oil Tier: 3Can be combined with other Oils at Cassia to Enchant Rings or Amulets, or to modify Blighted Maps..
Then press Anoint to add the anoint. Do this for both your rings. You can even anoint Unique rings.

Warning: A rare map with more modifiers provides more rewards, but also greatly increases the difficulty of the map. You will need high damage output or good tower use to complete them.
To prepare your blighted map, first use an Orb of ScouringOrb of ScouringStack Size: 30Removes all modifiers from an itemRight click this item then left click on a magic or rare item to apply it. on it if it is not normal rarity.

After you have defeated at least one normal map, try a magic, rare, or even a corruptedrare map for maximum rewards.

Now place your annointed Blighted map into your map device and start it.
Atlas passive tree has no effect

The first thing to do is to run to one of the edges/corners of the map and place your Portal there, so you don't accidentally click on the Portal during an intensive fight and lose the encounter.

Now scout around a map to get a feel of the map layout.

Click the Ichor Pump near Sister Cassia to begin the blight encounter.
The Purification Pump is the big egg-like structure in the center, which you must defend at all costs.

Now the Blight encounter has begun. You have 5 minutes to kill multiple waves of enemies and to defend the Purification Pump at all costs.

Power Available for constructing towers is right at the bottom

The first thing to do is build an Empowering Tower near to the Purification Pump.
This increases your damage against monsters or mini bosses that are almost about to reach the Pump.
To do this, click the Hammer icon nearest the Pump
Click Empowering Tower Mk 1
Click the Gear icon to upgrade it multiple times

Click Imbuing Tower for the final upgrade to the Empowering Tower which increases your damage while you stand it in.
As you can see the radius of the tower has also greatly increased.

The first wave of monster portals has appeared.
On the map you can see:
Monster Portal icons indicating the spawn points
Purification Pump icon indicating the main element to defend
Stars show you where to place the Scout Towers

Run to the first monster portal, and place down a Summoning Tower Mk 1.

Click the gear icon multiple times to upgrade it.

For the final upgrade on the Summoning Tower, select Scout Tower (wings icon).

Next run to one of the junction points where 2 lanes converge, and then place down a Scout Tower over there.

You know when new Monster Portals spawn if Cassia says:
"Its branching, exile!"
"The blight is spreading!"
"It's put out new mycelium!.. New roots!"
When this happens, you'll see many more Monster Portals appear and many more red dots (monsters) on your map.
The goal is to place down Scout Towers on the junction points so that they can target monsters moving along multiple lanes.
The map shows the recommended locations for Scout Towers with Stars.

As you can see, monsters on the right are moving upward, so we need to build at least 2 Scout Towers next to the lane to tackle them.
Run around the map placing towers in this way.
If the monsters are breaking through, build more towers in that region. Note that towers may stop working if you move too far away from them.

When Cassia says any of the following, drop whatever you're doing and immediately return to defend the Pump:
"Do not let them reach the purification pump!"
"You're making me nervous!"
You will be expected to deal a high amount of single-target damage for the mini bosses that spawn, as the towers may damage them but often fail to kill them.
Constantly return to the center and kill any monsters near the Pump.

When you have killed all the monsters, the encounter will end and monster drops will appear at the pump.

Run to the Blight Reward chests and loot them. This is where the primary profit comes from.
The remaining rewards show as icons at the bottom of the screen. Use this to track if you have forgotten to loot any chests.

The most efficient way to run Blight is to aim to complete as many as you can on the most enclosed layout maps as possible. Doing so will concentrate reward chests on as few blight tendrils as possible granting the highest chance at more oils and blighted maps your main money makers.
If your tower is positioned more awkwardly, upgrading to the meteor tower is a much better option. As a general rule, the Meteor tower is the strongest tower when focusing on Blighted maps, so anointments for it are the best performers.
Blighted maps can be increased in quality using Cartographer's Chisel. Has greater effect on lower-rarity maps. The maximum quality is 20%. Players can craft the map into Magic or Rare rarities, but it greatly increases the difficulty of combat.
This is why anointing Blighted maps anointed with three Amber Oils is considered the current easiest method for clearing Blighted maps, as this combination of anointments results in a 75% discount on Tower building costs.
Atlas passives that affect Blight encounters in maps do not affect Blighted maps. There is also a pinnacle version of Blighted maps called Blight-ravaged maps.
Blight icon chests from completing Blight encounters in maps have a chance to drop a Blighted version of a map. Blighted map drops are not affected by Cartography Scarabs.
When you open a blighted map, the charges on the sextants in the area of its parent map will be consumed, but there will be no effect on the map itself. It's similar to unique maps which consume charges even on sextants that don't affect them.
Shoreline is a great map for hidden stash looting as it will have at least 37 spawns. Most players won't know about these caches and you could simply collect them and get out without running into any other players. There are multiple routes you can take depending on where you spawn, west or east of the river.
Blighted maps can have up to three anointments at a time. blight-ravaged maps can have up to 9, with up to 3 of the same anointment. Multiple copies of the same oil are additive. (Example - 3 clear oil anointments with 10% reduced monster movement speed gives a total of 30%).
Favoured map slots can be unlocked by fulfilling various objectives like completing a Conqueror Map or defeating The Shaper. There are 12 Favoured Map Slots that can be unlocked. Each time you Favourite a Map, it gains a 10x multiplier to its drop chance when a Map of that tier drops.
When Voidstones are socketed into the Atlas, it increases the tier of maps that can be found in the Atlas. Voidstones increase the chances of dropping higher tier maps and add a chance for tier 16 maps to be converted to a tier 17 map. Socketing all four Voidstones will cause every map to be raised to tier 16.
The Blight Scarab of Bounty increases the potential rewards from Blight encounters by giving Blight chests a chance to be opened again after they have already been looted.
