How to answer U.S. immigration questions? ›

Answer all questions fully, succinctly, and truthfully, but do not volunteer information unless asked. If you're unsure of the answer or do not understand a question, you should always say so rather than guess.

How can I check the status of my citizenship application? ›

Online: Use the case status online tool to check for updates about your immigration case. You will need your 13-character receipt number from your application or petition. By phone: If you are calling from the U.S., contact the USCIS National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283 or TTY 1-800-767-1833.

Am I eligible for adjustment of status? ›

Who is eligible for adjustment of status? To be eligible for adjustment of status, an individual must have been inspected and admitted or paroled into the United States, must be eligible to receive an immigrant visa, and must not be inadmissible to the United States.

How long does USCIS take to respond to citizenship application? ›

What is the hardest question to answer on the citizenship test? ›

Arguably the hardest question on the U.S. citizenship test is number 67: The Federalist Papers supported the passage of the U.S. Constitution. Name one of the writers. This answer is unknown to even most American citizens because the Federalist Party ceased to exist back in 1824.

How do you answer citizenship status? ›

1. Are you a United States (US) citizen by birth, or were you born abroad to parents of whom at least one was a US citizen at the time of your birth, or are you a US National? If Yes, check the box marked “US Citizen.”

Can USCIS deny adjustment of status? ›

What is the best answer to an immigration interview? ›

What is the best answer for US visa interview? ›

Tip: If you have been to the US, tell the visa officer the reasons behind your previous trips, such as a vacation, to attend a training program, or for medical reasons. If you have not been to the US before, simply say that you have not yet had an opportunity to travel or study there.
